Podcasting @ One

What is Podcasting?

No, it's not just for Apple or iPod users. Podcasting uses the power of RSS 2.0 feeds to bring fresh content to your desktop automagically. Just like a newspaper or a cable TV subscription, RSS feeds can contain different types of content. Depending on which RSS feeds or Podcasts you subscribe to. You can queue up Podcast downloads for your computer (like a download manager) and depending on your MP3 Player or PDA have them directly transferred to your portable devices - if you want. This is how the term Podcast was coined - the iPod supports this but, it is not the only one and is not the basis of encapsulated RSS feeds.

Since it's RSS at heart, Podcasting is also a great way to spread and promote news and music. If you were to search google for Podcasting you would find thousands of results featuring Podcast links and Podcast Directories. Podcast Directories are sites that organize Podcasts into categories. Directories often focus on certain areas of interest. There are several directories and many already have Netlabel channels including this site.

How do I download Podcasts?

You need client software. Our current favorite for the PC is Doppler - there is also the popular cross-platform iPodder. Apple users can also download iPodderX. After you choose a client, the setup is painless and you will get going in no time. Don't forget to setup your download directories and audio software in the applications preferences. Once started, just find the "add feed" button and add one of our feeds!
